
Designed by Alexander Jackson Davis in 1835, it is one of the most impressive surviving examples of his work. The church was operational until 1967. It survived Urban Renewal, but fell into disrepair. The parsonage was rased- the offices of the Board of Education are now where it stood. In 2005 the church was named one of the "100 Most Endangered Sites" in the world by
World Monuments Fund. The restoration effort is being spearheaded by the
Newburgh Preservation Association.
