This is the view from veranda of the Palatine Hotel that was located on Grand Street directly across the street from the old courthouse. It was named for the original European settlers in Newburgh, the Palatines, who were from a region on the Rhine River in Germany. A fine view from the luxury hotel that competed with the Plaza in New York City. Unfortunately it was rased during "urban renewal". On the far right is something that still survives and has been lovingly restored and maintained in recent years, the only surviving
Charles Fasoldt clock in it's original location.
